A fit about Fitna

Friday Mar 28 2008

So... ' movie has been released on the internet. For those who don't know what it is: It's Wilders' anti- pamphlet in full-motion video. Geert Wilders is a right-wing politician from the Netherlands who has turned 'fighting Islam' into his very own personal crusade.

If you haven't seen the movie yet, I'm sure you'll find it on the various video sites on the internet. I'm not directly linking to it as I feel this would be some kind of support which I don't mean to provide. For those who haven't seen it, can't find it or just don't want to watch it, here's what's in the movie.

Fitna shows a series of hostile quotes from the with complementary video footage of various terror attacks such as 9/11, the Madrid bombings and the London bombings as well as some other things such as execution of gays and women, genital mutilation and fragments of hostile speeches from members of the Islamic clergy. The movie then ends with warnings about how it's important to stop Islam from 'taking over Europe' and especially the Netherlands. Finally, the movie starts AND finishes with the dreaded Danish cartoon picturing the prophet Muhammad with a bomb-shaped hat. Bringing that back again will surely piss people off.

The developer versus manager dilemma

Wednesday Mar 12 2008

I'm pretty sure every (web) developer at some point asks him/herself the question: How do I move forward in this industry? While status, and mostly money don't necessarily 'matter' to you (it doesn't really to me) it becomes an important issue at some point in everyone's life. Having to support a family or wanting to buy a decent house in a decent neighborhood are valid reasons which at some point bring money more into the picture than one might like. This is definitely true for yours truly.

I've been thinking about the subject of this post a lot lately and I felt it would be a good thing to write down my thoughts on the matter and invite you all to comment on it with your thoughts.

Before I continue I'd like to apologise for not having published any articles for such a long time. Life sometimes simply gets in the way of things.
