Hi from Sweden!

Sunday Jul 23 2006

It's been kind of quiet on this site and I'm sorry to tell you it will probably stay like that for at least two more weeks. The reasons for this are simple: I don't have any internet at home. In fact I don't even have any furniture at home except for a sleeping couch we've bought this week. All our stuff, including my G5 (grrr) won't arrive before August 1-4. In addition to that it's been extremely busy at work and I'm quite sure it will stay that way for at least a couple of weeks. It's exciting however and I'm very happy to work at this ambitious project I still can't tell you very much about unfortunately. Let me explain what's happening on the life side of things at the moment. Warning: lifelog entry ahead. Ignore at will!

Moving out...

Saturday Jul 15 2006

I was going to write this posting before moving to Sweden but because of the truckload of stuff we needed to take care of I didn't get to that in time. So here I am, writing this posting in Sweden. I just woke up from our first night here so I guess now is a great time to write some sort of a status update on what's going on. Babble / lifelog ahead... Simply because my life is kinda shaken up at the moment.

For those who have no clue what this is all about: My girlfriend and I just moved to Sweden, as announced in this earlier posting. As you can see here on Flickr we've moved out of our appartment and our stuff is currently on it's way to us. Since it's going to take at least a week before our stuff arrives there's some chaotic days ahead of us. In 2 days (monday) we're going to start working for our new employer. That's right, no couple of days to settle down or rest. I guess we can sleep when we're dead!

Spam fighter releases splog plugin

Monday Jul 3 2006

A while ago this plugin called WP-Autoblog came to my attention. It struck me as 'funny' because it's a plugin that will definitely be used by people who steal content routinely to place this content on their splogs. I must admit that Elliott Back is honest about this.

This plugin is potentially dangerous: it converts xml into Wordpress posts. It could be used to run an aggregator site, or it might be used by spammers to push high-profit keywords into their blogs.
Elliott Back

Nevertheless, a plugin like this being released by the author of WP HashCash does strike me as weird. Especially since Elliott's been sending DMCY's occasionally himself after finding out people had stolen his content!
