YUI 3 Preview Release and some more YUI babble
It's here! YUI 3 Preview Release 1. I have had the pretty unique privilege to be working with YUI 3 for several months already in a project that has not yet been released to the public. At first I wasn't too happy with it but I must honestly admit that it's starting to grow on me. YUI 3 is packed with interesting new concepts and made to be lightweight, fast and secure. The biggest 'issue' with YUI 3 is the fact that there are a LOT of syntax changes as well as paradigm changes compared to YUI 2.x. You WILL need some time to get used to the new way of programming if you're a seasoned 2.x user.
I hope to write some more about YUI 3 with some nifty code examples soon but I'm not sure when I will get to it because I'm still busy working on my YUI AccordionView widget which is now quite possibly going to be included in the official YUI 2.x distribution. Moot point since YUI 3 is coming? Not just yet. YUI 3 still has a long way to go and of course I will try to port the widget to YUI 3 when the time comes.
At the moment I am focusing on making the AccordionView widget as accessible as possibly by adding full keyboard support and WAI-ARIA roles and states. At the moment of writing this entry you can already play with it in the test directory where I'm always playing with the bleeding edge version.
Now go check out YUI 3 and the first code examples!
