The Stockholm story
I've already mentioned the fact that me and my girlfriend are going to relocate to Stockholm, Sweden in two months but I didn't get around doing a little writeup on what's going on exactly. In addition to this writeup I'll post some pictures to show you my future office and my beautiful soon-to-be hometown: Stockholm. It all started with this little post on Robert Nyman's weblog. The job sounded cool. Added to that we already had a pretty strong desire to leave Holland and work abroad. So I went ahead and fired off an email with my resume and some relevant links. I figured it was worth a shot!
A couple of days later Tim Heighes from Adocca mailed me back to let me know my application looked interesting. After a long phonecall with Tim in the weekend we swiftly booked a little trip to Stockholm in order to meet the Adocca crew. The phonecall already made me excited as hell. If this would all be as cool as it sounded on the phone I'd be into some serious luck if I'd get hired!
And boy did it rock. I don't think I've ever seen a crew more enthousiastic and dedicated to delivering an absolutely kick ass product than I did over at the Adocca office. It became clear rather quickly that I was going to get a job offer and what's more: My girlfriend got one too! What a perfect ticket out of the Netherlands into more exciting realms for the both of us. Adocca is going to be a project everyone on the net will be talking about real soon. And I'm gonna be part of it! For now I'll just say that Adocca is going to be the number one entertainment portal in the world. Ambitious? It sure is. But if you would have met the crew and the CEO of Adocca like I did last weekend, you'd just know we're going to make it happen!

The Adocca office is located in a former brewery near the water. Looking out of the windows you can see a large part of the city of Stockholm. Some spot to place a webcam! There wasn't anything about the company that didn't seem cool as hell. The project, the people, the CEO, the office, the fact that they're a 100% Mac OS X environment. I have no idea what's not to like about it. Therefore I guess you can imagine I can't wait to move to Stockholm and get into the action. However due to some work related obligations I'll be staying in the Netherlands until the start of Juli. After that it's time to ... go North!
I'll leave you now with some nice photographs I took during the weekend in Stockholm.
Can you tell I'm a sucker for subways and railway stations?

Anything that could result in an apartment would be of great help. And… it could even earn you an iPod Video as you’ve seen in the previous post

I never liked it here all that much. I guess you can tell by reading through older items on my blog. I lived and worked abroad before (Dominican Republic). Ever since I did that I wanted to go and work abroad again.

I wish you and your girl all the luck in this city and with both your new jobs. It sounds like a kick-ass job (like niwla said). These kind of jobs only happen ones in a very long while!

Really nice pictures of our capital city. I live in Uppsala (70 km north of Stockholm).
Hard to tell your taste in music from the amazon wishlists, but you could start your life in Sweden with some pop music on the 6th of July. A one-day-festival located in another old brewery, read more at http://www.klubbacc.nu/..
Be sure to bring a nice jacket though, even the summer nights in Stockholm can be quite damp and chilly.
Again welcome, and good luck with the job and finding an apartment.

About the Linux thing: If you think you can be a good Linux teacher, drop me an email and I’ll get you in touch with the right person to talk to! They might indeed need a new one.
