Would you buy this watch?

Long-time visitors will smile and recognize this. Newer visitors won't. This post will get one or more followups but for now I just wanted to present an open question. Imagine the above watch wouldn't be an engineered fake by yours truly. Imagine it would be readily available at your local store. Would you consider buying this watch instead of a normal one? Imagine the watch would be available with many different indicator colors including colors you really like. Would you want one?

My clock design inside the casing of my favorite watch: The Longines 'Oposition' Titanium. Isn't she lovely?

Nope! Every ‘pie piece’ that has changed colors fully means one hour. That means it’s about 1:40, 5:40 or 9:40 depending on what orange means in this model. Suppose ‘all orange’ means 00:00 / 12:00 it would be 1:40 / 13:40 now on this picture because one has changed into yellow and the next one has changed just a bit more than half way.

The real question here by the way isn’t about whether you wear a watch or not or whether you can affort a particular brand of watches. It’s about the question if any of you would like to have a totally different way of looking at the time. I know it looks kinda hard to read but you get used to it in one or two days so I don’t think there are usability problems involved besides some time to get used to it, unless you’re color blind of course

My Father told me as a young girl to never date a man who didn’t wear a watch because he had no respect for time.Til this day I have followed his instructions.A man without a watch is just distasteful… to me.
Get a watch Guys :)
@ Marco
Those watches are beautiful, especially the second one.If I had a man to give one to and it was reasonably priced, I would buy one.
:)

MarcoDana—How would you know the difference between 1:40 and 9:40 then? (assuming that all orange is 0:00/12:00), you would not know because the first revolution around changes them all to yellow, and that means 4 hours has passed. But then, as you go around again, they are all orange again, meaning 8 hours total has passed. Then, since there is one wedge and 40 minutes of another wedge taken, it could be 9:40 too.
Or am I reading the clock wrong? Hehe. :) Cool-looking design though. But, I’m with Jeriko One; if I wanted a watch, I would want one that immediately told me the time.

all yellow: 4 hours passed. all orange: 8 hours passed. all blue: 12 hours passed. And the whole thing will start over again.
A ‘smarter’ version is also possible with 6 colors, covering a full 24h timeframe. Takes more time to get used to though. In fact my original design has 6 colors but I figured that could be a tad hard for a lot of people which is why I think a 3 color version makes more sense.
And… this thing does tell you the time ‘immediately’. It just takes a day or two to get used to it that’s all ;)

Just remember one thing Marco: no matter what you sell, or how good it is… it’s all about marketing. Don’t even tell people what that watch does, just get Paris Hilton or Lindsay Lohan to wear it and you’re set. I’m serious!

I like your concept of using color to dictate time. I dont think I’ve ever seen that, time is usually represented by something purely graphical.
So, yes, I would buy this watch just to be different. It would certainly be a conversation piece!
