Monday is 9rules day

It's finally happening. This monday the
9rules Network is having it's third 24h submission round. I've been wanting to join this network for a long time because I strongly believe it could take this weblog to a next level. However, I don't feel as confident they will actually accept me as I felt before. While I really think this site has what it takes to be a worthy 9rules member site there's one problem: There are quite some sites in the network already that cover subjects similar to the subjects I write about.
So what do you guys think? Should I apply or shouldn't I even bother trying? I'm interested in your opinions...

No really, like they say in Dutch: “nee heb je, ja kun je krijgen”. I’m not a 9rules Network groupie, but if you say this site has what it takes (I wouldn’t know) then I think you should try. After all, it’s this blog that I read, not the ones on the 9Rules Network, even if they cover the same topics.

Two people in a coffee shop both have an idea to start up another phone company offering better rates or slightly different services. The first person says, “I don’t think I’ll bother. The phone company we already have is doing the same thing that I want to do,” and leaves. The other person sets up his new phone company and gains a quick following because they are offering better rates or slightly different services.
The point is, don’t not apply because someone else may be doing the same thing. Instead, you should apply because you may offer a unique perspective on the things the others are saying and giving your readership a better idea of what the topic is about or how it could be utilized. In my little anecdote (if that’s what it’s called), the first person gave up and got nothing. The other one took the chance because really, he had nothing to lose. Neither do you. By the same token, you have something to gain (with the achievement of a personal goal being one of them).
Is your site good enough? Your current readership seems to think so – and isn’t that enough incentive to at least give it a shot? I think so – and really, you probably should too. ;)
