Omniweb: the killer Mac browser that nobody uses
If you have a mac you're probably surfing the web with Safari or Firefox. Or, if you're really braindead when it comes to modern browsers you might still be using Internet Explorer 5.2. Of course there's Opera offering a quite nice Mac browser as well. A lot of people however have no idea there's also Omniweb, a mighty fine browser with some features not found in any other browser. Since I really think this browser deserves some more attention I decided to write a little article about it for everyone who has never heard of this fine piece of software or never took a closer look at it. Try it out, you won't regret it!Some history

Now that's a tab interface!
A tab interface on steroids
The really innovative stuff comes when you look at the special features of Omniweb. The first thing that will strike you immediately is the tab interface. Of course this isn't really new because Safari and Firefox have it too. Omniweb however takes things a step further by incorporating mini-versions of the actual page that's open. Very nice indeed! If you don't want it to occupy the extra screenspace that it requires you can switch to a text-only tab as well. A very nice feature.
The form editor
The form editor
When you're filling out a form in Omniweb you'll notice a little button with a cross on textarea elements. If you click it, Omniweb will spawn a little separate editor that makes it easier to edit the textarea's content. In addition to that it offers the possibility to import text from other resources on your mac. Definitely a great interface enhancement.Site specific preferences
Omniweb allows the user to set specific preferences for single sites. If you have frequently visited sites that have that annoying small font size or some other things you don't really like you can change the browser's preferences on these single site without touching the defaults for other sites. A very useful feature.

Closing comments
Other than the features I highlighted in this mini-review Omniweb comes packed with just about everything you'd expect from a modern next-generation web browser. Priced at only $29 and offered without any annoying ad stuff (yes I'm looking at you, Opera!) it's definitely a browser every mac user should at least try for a while. You'll love it.The Omnigroup website
Well-known designer Jon Hicks likes Omniweb too and offers a nice Omniweb theme for you to check out.

Note to all: Marco is right, you know. Omniweb rocks so hard your neighbours will come knocking at your door, complaining about the noise.

Sorry
And yes… I’m getting addicted to Omniweb. Guess I’ll be shelling out that $29 after the moral limit of 30 trial days!

It’s a great browser though—I miss a lot of the features but I’ll wait until it’s a bit more stable.
