This must be the most screwed up day of the year and I don't like it! Right now I'm on the train to go and see my girlfriend and I wish I weren't. This may sound strange but you'll know what I'm talking about soon enough. This whole day just seems plain 'wrong'. Like the U2 song says I would like to close my eyes and make it go away.....

It already started right away when I arrived at work. I always do my daily 10 minutes of news-reading, usually on nu.nl where I can get some quick bites of news. I was completely astonished and shocked by the news that around 9.00am this morning the Dutch cineast Theo van Gogh was murdered in an unbelievably brutal way. Theo van Gogh has never been known as a very subtle guy but we always pride ourself on the fact that Holland is a free country. You can and may voice your opinion no matter what. So they say....

It seems the trend is shifting towards a culture where saying something certain things another group of people doesn't like, you are going to be rewarded with a bullet in your head and a knife in your body with a note on it. I am lost for words, I cannot believe this is happening in a developed first-world country such as the Netherlands. But then again the world just isn't the place it used to be anymore. With the same horror I'm regularly watching the news seeing yet another innocent person being decapitated by some extremist islamic idiot. It seems we're moving towards a society where keeping your mouth shut is the most wise thing to do....

Then thunder struck again when I got a message from my beloved girlfriend telling me she felt really REALLY bad and had to go to the hospital. Thank God she went because something's definitely not right. It made me realize how bad things are with the Dutch health system because they originally planned to keep her waiting until November 22 before they would go and have a look what's wrong with her. Now let's hope for the best...

And let's hope John Kerry will win the US elections.... *sigh*
